Do V3 keyboards work with Mechcables?
Hello!
This is my first post here so I hope I'm using this correctly. Trying to find out if my keyboard I purchased from you guys works with a custom cable that I got from Mechcables. A little backstory to help understand where I'm at:
So I purchased a custom cable that is USB C to USB A from a company called Mechcables and found that when I plug it in to my keyboard nothing happens. The keyboard works just fine with the default cable that shipped with it, but not with the new one I received.
I believe there could be a fault in the custom cable itself but I also found that not all USB-C ports are the same. Which brings me to think that I could possibly have 2 working pieces but they just aren't compatible with each other. Any chance I could possibly get some clarification on this? What USB-C cables are compatible with the V3 keyboards?
Below are specs of the keyboard I ordered as well as the custom cable I have.
Keyboard Specs:
- Case Color
- Black
- Install Sound Dampeners
- 0.2mm Travel Reduction, 40A-L Red O-Rings - $25.00
- Switch Type
- Cherry MX Silent Red (Linear)
Cable Specs: *It comes in two parts that connect via the aviator*

Hi,
I have not heard of any USB-C to A cables not working with the V3, but I have not heard for sure the result of someone using a cable with an aviator connector. If you can, try the custom cable with another USB-C device to see if it works with anything else. MechCables may also have some insight on potential issues. Let us know your findings and we'll go from there!

Hi Paige!
Glad to hear that USB-C to A works just fine with the V3. I recently sent back my MechCable to have it looked at to see if something was wrong with it. At the moment I have not heard back. If there ends up being a problem with the cable then all is solved, if not then I'll make sure to test it with a different device when it gets back to me. Thank you for your reply!
